The Princess Hirrihigua Chapter welcomes new members who are interested in patriotism, education, and historic preservation.

We encourage prospective members to visit our chapter, which typically meets (unless otherwise noted) on the third Saturday of the month at the Elks Lodge - 2675 66th St N, St. Petersburg, FL. 33710 September - May.

Meetings begin at 1:00 PM and typically, last for 1 - 1.5 hours.

“How to Dress a Colonial Lady”-Linda Gasparini

“Dressing the Colonial Lady” is a PowerPoint presentation using 18th century portraits, prints, and sketches, as well as photographs of extant clothing to illustrate what women wore from “shifts to shoes”. In addition, a display of various reproduction garments would be available for examination, as well as a number of books on patterns and construction techniques. The goal of the presentation is to acquaint DAR members with a more accurate characterization of our female ancestors’ attire in order to improve their own 18th century wardrobes."

“Making – Meaning – Memory of This groundbreaking exhibit combines sewn items from all textile sections of the DAR Museum’s collections: clothing, household textiles, quilts, and needlework and examines the role sewing played in American life; based on the DAR Museum’s 2024 exhibition.”
